Mark Turin

Interim Editor (2023-2024)

Mark Turin received his doctorate from Leiden University in the Netherlands. He came to UBC by way of Yale and Cambridge universities, where he directed the Yale Himalaya Initiative, the Digital Himalaya Project and the World Oral Literature Project respectively. For five years, he served as Co-Editor of Himalaya, the longest-running interdisciplinary journal of Himalayan studies. At UBC, he is cross appointed between the Institute for Critical Indigenous Studies and the Department of Anthropology.
